The Wedding of Eliot & Ricki

Well it’s been a busy Summer so far, so much so that I’ve not been around enough to keep up with the Blogs, so here’s a Highlights film from Ricki & Eliot’s Wedding at the stunning Dalhouise Castle, just outside Edinburgh.

For this post I’ll just let the film do the talking….

Happy Times!

Edinburgh Castle Wedding Video – Balmoral Hotel Wedding Reception

Linsey & Mike married at the beautiful St Margaret’s chapel at Edinburgh Castle, and despite an unseasonal downpour had a wonderful day with their parents celebrating their special day. After the wedding ceremony it was back to the luxurious Balmoral Hotel to relax and enjoy their first afternoon together as husband and wife.

Congratulations guys, and I’m delighted to be able to share a clip from your amazing wedding film from design scotland video.

Take care.

Borthwick Castle Wedding Video – Josh & Jen

I thought I’d share a clip from the amazing wedding video created by design scotland video for my wonderful clients Josh & Jen and their wedding at Borthwick Castle a couple of weeks ago.

Josh and Jen brought over their close family from Vermont in the US, and we helped them to achieve their dream of a perfect fairytale wedding in a stunning Scottish Castle.

Here’s the wedding film clip, enjoy!

Weddings in Scotland by Scottish Wedding Consultants

What a great day it was today!.  The weather has completely turned itself around and we had brilliant blue skies instead of the nasty wind and snow we’ve been having lately!  Also when I opened my mailbox I was greeted with a lovely e-mail from a previous client.

We helped Cathy and her husband Todd with their wedding at Dirleton Castle on the 27th May 2002.  I can remember it like it was yesterday.  It was a fabulously sunny day and we all had such a lovely, fun time at the Castle.

Cathy got in touch to say ‘hi’ and to tell us that she still follows SWC and is loving our great new website!     She also had some amazing news to share that she and Todd had had twins!  What great news!  She sent us a lovely Easter picture of Jamison and Liam.  Here it is below.

Thanks for keeping in touch Cathy & Todd!  This is already such a rewarding career, but to see how couples get on after they marry here is wonderful!  I know you’ll be back to Scotland and we must meet up when you do so you can introduce me to Jamison and Liam!

All the very best to you and all SWC couples out there!

Red Hot Chilli Pipers at a Dundas Castle Wedding in Edinburgh

These days couples are always looking for new ways to add a little something special to their wedding and make it really memorable.  Some release doves or SkyLanterns, have fireworks or the occasional impromptu performance from a surprise opera singing waiter!  One thing that’s guaranteed to WOW your guests and really get the party started is a 30 mins performance from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Here’s a fabulous little snippet from one of their recent performances.  Film courtesy of Design Scotland Video.

Enjoy!

Wedding at The Hub, Royal Mile, Edinburgh

I had a great time helping plan Gemma and Stephen’s wedding at the The Hub recently.

Gemma and Stephen came to me early in the summer last year following a recommendation from one of their close friends whose wedding I had helped plan the previous year.

I met with them and showed them various places to choose from and they fell in love with The Hub. Now those of you who have been there will know it’s a very unique place with a very bold striking interior!  This was one of the reasons they fell in love with it!  They knew they wanted it to look fabulous but they were lost for ideas on how to dress it, so that’s where I came in!

I was in my element and loved every minute of it!  All of the design touches are one of my favourite parts of planning a wedding!

Gemma and Stephen wanted a decadent and luxurious feel to their wedding and this was echoed in their choice of accommodation as we recommended they stay at the wonderfully opulent Witchery the night before and the night of their wedding.  Gemma had the Inner Sanctum suite all to herself the first night which was fabulous and it was a great place for all the girls to meet the morning of the wedding to get ready.

To dress The Hub, we went for a black and gold theme as this was quite a strong scheme that would hold its own against the bright colours in the Hub but still match in well with the colours there.

We co-ordinated sumptuous black velvet cloths with raw silk napkins tied with elegant gold organza ribbon.   Tables were complimented with gold chairs.  In the centres we placed tall vases with lilies and roses with little crystals that glinted in the pin spot mood lighting.  Around each table centre we had tea lights to bring in a twinkle of light.  Around the walls of the room was a pale gold wash of colour to give warmth.  Guests were welcomed by a piper on the red carpet and flambeaux lit the entrance.

I loved putting it all together for them but the very best part of it all was seeing Gemma enter the finished room for the first time and standing there for a couple of seconds before uttering a single WOW!!  That was priceless and was really rewarding.

I’ve added a few lovely photos, courtesy of Simon Grosset from Q Photography,  to show off their beautiful room. Gemma and Stephen wanted a relaxed reportage style to their photography and Simon was the perfect choice!

Enjoy!

Happy Mothers Day

What a great weekend it was!  Scotland drew against England in the Rugby.  (This is good because I didn’t have to put up with a smug husband all weekend!)  The weather was superb, I think it reached a balmy 11 degrees on Saturday!  Then on Sunday morning I woke up bleerey eyed to Callum with a lovely breakfast he’d prepared for me.  It was such a nice surprise!  The only thing is Callum, now I know how well you can make eggs, toast and tea, I hope to have it a bit more often ;)

Little did I know that Steve was filming it all at the time just so I could see Callum in action!  Eat your heart out Gordon Ramsay!  And no, Callum DIDN’T say the ‘F’ word!

Thanks Callum and Steve for a lovely day and a lovely memento!

A New Scottish Pub – Ghillie Dhu

I was very excited to hear that a brand new Scottish pub will be opening its doors in Edinburgh this Saturday March 13th!

While the former church was in the depths of reconstruction/refurbishment. I used to often pass it wondering what it would be.  Well, now I know!  It’s called Ghillie Dhu and it’s set to be Edinburgh’s brand new Scottish Pub!

It has a great location next to the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh’s salubrious West End.  It will be open all day from 8.30am till 3am, serving lovely Scottish food.  We went for a sneak preview today and were very impressed!  The food served there was superb.  Simple Scottish food made with great locally sourced ingredients.  So, if you’re looking to sample some lovely Haggis, Scottish Mussels, Aberdeen Angus Beef or great Scottish desserts like ‘Clootie Dumpling’ or Glayva ice-cream then this is the place for you!

Inside it has a very nice feel to it.  It does feel Scottish and great to see that there isn’t a tartan carpet or jimmy hat in sight!  Instead, it’s modern & contemporary but has still kept a lot of the traditional features of the original building.

Could it get better?  Yes, of course it can!  As well as great food, they’ll be having live entertainment with folk and acoustic sessions every night and there will also be a ceilidh once a week!

To find out more, visit their site at http://www.ghillie-dhu.co.uk or call them to make a reservation on 0131-222-9930.

Well worth a visit I’d say!  Sorry there aren’t any photos, they wouldn’t let us take any!

Enjoy!
